for reducing the diameter of log sections along their entire length to a specified diameter (e.g.,60 cm).
Sawmills that have a maximum throughput for their saw or planer but want to process thicker round timber can now reduce the oversized logs to a needed diameter. This means that the entire round timber purchase can be sawn and the chips produced during the reduction process can also be put to good use.
If the proportion of oversized logs is in the low percentage range, an inexpensive “standalone” solution makes sense. This eliminates the need for costly mechanization (infeed and outfeed conveyors). The front-end pinhole clamping of the sections guarantees a reduction process in automatic mode.
For logs with a length of 3.00–5.50 m and a diameter of 50–120 cm.
Design
Base frame made of sturdy sectional steel construction with guide rail for reduction unit and clamping device.
Lifting device consisting of 2 hydraulically independently liftable and lowerable lifting prisms that center the section in the middle position (automatic centering).
Clamping and turning device for clamping the sections at the front end, fixed clamping device on the side of the root collar. Mobile clamping device with rotary drive on the butt end of the trunk. Clamping range 2.90 to 5.90 m.
Reducing head with 7 peeling rows, arranged in a spiral, head width 420 mm, carbide tools, drive power 30 kW.
Travel device: entire reducing head movable in the longitudinal direction. Infinitely variable travel speed, v = max. 40 m/min.
Hydraulic unit with 15 kW
Electrical control cabinet with control elements for operating the reduction process, Siemens S7 PLC control, control panel with operating elements
